The benefits of Invisalign

Convenient – Traditional fixed metal braces, though highly effective, put many people off having their teeth straightened due to the impact on their appearance and lifestyle. Now, due to the latest advances in orthodontic technology, Invisalign is a more convenient and aesthetically pleasing options available.

Transparent – Invisalign is one of the most popular new systems as it straightens crooked or misaligned teeth using removable, transparent aligners. This makes it a great option for those who are concerned about having conspicuous fixed brackets and wires fitted to their teeth.

✓ Removable – The aligners aren’t very noticeable to others when you are wearing them, even if you are laughing or talking. They can be easily removed for short periods of time, allowing you to drink, eat and clean your teeth as normal – and meaning you don’t have to wear them if you have a special work or social event planned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign is very effective at treating a range of orthodontic conditions. These include crooked teeth and overcrowding, as well as over and under-bites. We will carefully assess your individual case at your initial consultation and advise on the best course of action for your needs.

The treatment involves the regular wearing of a series of bespokely made aligners that gradually reposition the teeth in stages. It is essential that the aligners are worn as advised by your dentist and for the specified amount of time.

We will first examine your teeth to check that Invisalign is the most appropriate treatment for you. If we feel that another treatment would be better suited then we will advise you on the options available.

If your case is suitable for Invisalign then we will take impressions of your teeth so that your own unique aligners can be shaped. When these are ready they can be collected at the next appointment, at which your dentist will also show you how to use them.

Ongoing appointments are then arranged every four to six weeks to check on progress.

The whole process usually takes between six and eighteen months. The exact duration depends on the individual case and how much the teeth need to be moved.

Invisalign aligners need to be worn for at least 22 hours every day.
